Asalamu Alaikum,

Madina Academy’s CT Science Fair Success

It is hard to believe that the academic year went by so quickly. We have had a wonderful third quarter full of hard work, dedication and crowned with wonderful achievements. We went from science discoveries with the CT Science Fair and the BioBus, to exploring the world and its cultures during our Multicultural Fair, to acknowledging the value of reading with our Scholastic Book Fair, and finally, to a well deserved rest and relaxation during our Spring Break.

The CT Science Fair Achievement is the greatest point of pride for us this year. Our middle school students have successfully endured a six-month long process of planning, experimentation, data collection, conducting background research, observations and gathering results. This is the process that any middle school student interested in participating in the CT Science Fair will have to partake in under the direct supervision of the school and the parents. Madina Academy has been participating in the CT Science Fair competition over the past three years. The results have always been joyful.

(Alhamdulillah).

This year, we participated with five middle school students. The preliminary results were announced on the 11 th of March. . The entire staff gathered in the school office to find out the results. Tears mixed with screams of joy as we exchanged the wonderful news. Four out of our five students have achieved First Honor and one Second Honor. We thanked Allah (SWT) for his blessing, as this ,in itself , is a great achievement for our students to make it thus far out of over 400 participating projects from the entire state of CT. Allah’s blessing upon us was yet about to reveal an even greater surprise. Our four finalists were then promoted to the second level of the competition from which students are selected for First, Second, or Third Place. Marrium Qureshi, a very bright eighth grader, achieved First Place in one of the categories and Second Place in another one. She is also the recipient of a special recognition award. She came home loaded with trophies, medallion, ribbons and a $300 cash prize. Hibbah Ashraf, another smart 8 th grader, also earned herself Third Place in one category and a $300 cash prize. Adnan Rashid, and Rubina Buhra, two of our 7 th grade jewels, won several plaques’ and medallions. Javairia Butt achieved Second Honor.

We thank Allah (SWT) for showering us with blessings this year.

Congratulations to our students, our staff members and our parents
